As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the education of our students, we are sharing the professional development and qualifications of our paraprofessionals with you. Pioneer Elementary is applying for the Ed-Flex waiver that will allow us flexibility with the para requirements. With this waiver we will be able to provide our paraprofessionals that are still in the process of meeting federal qualification requirements by providing them with ongoing professional development opportunities—such as courses, workshops, and trainings. Our current Title I Aides at Pioneer Elementary School have one or more of the following qualifications.
1. Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education
2. Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree
3. Met rigorous standards of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instruction reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness).
4. Continued annual professional development courses, workshops, etc.
